Tonic Polish X Femme Fatale Cosmetics Collab: Tonic Half

Hey all!

I'm back with the last set of polishes from Tonic's May 2017 release. "The Four Seasons" Collaboration between Femme Fatale Cosmetics and Tonic Polish consisted of four polishes - two from each brand. I have the Tonic half here for you. From Lindsey: "Inspired by Vivaldi's violin concertos, Sophie and I each chose seasons to model our colors after." I love the inspiration behind these and I can easily see how these shades came about from each "season." Onto the nail polish!

Bleeding Heart Sunset is an orchid-lavender base with strong glowing pink multichrome shimmer that shifts to peach and gold with scattered holo shimmer. This shade was inspired by the intense, sultry heat of the Summer Concerto. If I had to choose a favorite from the entire set, this would be it. The hint of peach in certain lighting is stunning and needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. It has a great formula - 2 coats provide plenty of coverage. No texture to report.

Promise of Spring is inspired by the fresh, light hearted playfulness of Vivaldi's Spring Concerto. It's described as a pale metallic yellow-green Lumichrome that shifts to mint green and blue with a scattered holo finish. I used three coats of this shade, but I believe two coats should be sufficient for people with shorter nails or who tend to paint with thicker coats. I also want to mention that this one can get brush stroke-y if you're not careful (like me, hence the 3 coats instead of 2). Just make sure that you use a thicker coat for the final coat and it shouldn't be a problem (float the polish, FLOAT IT!).

So what do you think of this set? Do you think it represents Vivaldi's Spring and Summer Concertos well? Personally, I can easily see the inspiration represented in these two. And I really love Bleeding Heart Sunset!

Until next time!

Tonic Polish May Birthday Duo

Hello beautiful readers,

Today I'm adding photos of Tonic Polish's May Birthday Duo, which was released in May 2017 along with their Spring 2017 Collection (posted here yesterday). This is a special Limited Edition duo that consists of two polishes created in honor of Lindsey's son Nico's 4th Birthday! How sweet is that?! I love the names of these, the love and intent behind their creation, and the colors themselves! They are definitely two of my favorite Tonic's everrr.

First up is You'll Move Mountains, described as a "straight up glowing emerald green." I'd say "glowing" is the perfect word to describe this polish. Do you see this?! It has a great, problem-free formula that covers in 2-3 coats, depending on your application style and nail length. I used three coats plus topcoat for my photos. No texture issues to report.

The Places You'll Go is an emerald green base with green - blue - purple - pink - gold shifting multichrome shimmer. This one is so multidimensional and unique! You truly need to see it in person to really appreciate it completely. It almost has an oil spill type appearance at certain angles. Ughhh, it's just PHENOMENAL! The formula was pretty similar to You'll Move Mountains. I used 3 coats plus topcoat for each of my photos, but again you may get coverage with two.

Knowing May's birthstone is the Emerald, I can't picture a more perfect set of polishes to represent it! Not only that, but they're both just effing stunning in every sense of the word. I don't know how Lindsey does it, but she has the magic touch! I believe these two shades will be available at a few restocks on Tonic's website in the future, as well as at a few of Tonic's stockists: Color4NailsGirly Bits Cosmetics, or Femme Fatale Cosmetics. And be sure to follow Tonic Polish on Instagram and join the Facebook fan group to stay up to date on the brand's latest releases and sales!

Tonic Polish Spring 2017 Collection

Hello there, lovely readers!

Long time, no talk. After deciding to make the transition over to Instagram mainly for sharing my swatch photos, it's now time for me to come all the way back. As much as I enjoy the platform, the recent changes and my penchant for being long winded, have pushed me back to my original love. So, if you've been following me on Instagram (http://instagram.com/polishforthepeople), I truly hope you'll make the jump back here with me! I love my followers and am extremely grateful for the audience I've grown over there. Your patience and willingness to stick through this transition are greatly appreciated. I will be beginning the fairly lengthy process of adding the content I've created on Instagram to the blog here. So you will likely see releases that have been out for a year, if not longer, for the first few posts. After I've gotten the main sum of my content transferred, I'll be back to posting new content here. So without further ado, I'm sharing Tonic Polish's gorgeous Spring 2017 Collection here today. This collection first debuted on tonicpolish.com on May 7th 2017. These six shades are considered "core" colors so they should sporadically pop up for sale for a bit yet.

I Pink You Blue Me Off is my favorite shade from the Spring 2017 collection (although, it's not an easy collection to pick a favorite from). I'm just such a sucker for that intense contrasting shimmer and that perfect blue base is to diiiie for! (*heart eyes all around*) It's described as a bright blue creme with strong pink shimmer that shifts to yellow. Oh and it has a fantastic formula! I found it to be on the thick side, but I mean "thick" in the best possible way. I needed only minimal cleanup because the formula sat so perfectly where I applied it and it self leveled like a dream. I applied two coats of I Pink You Blue Me Off plus one coat of topcoat. It does dry to a slightly satin finish without the topcoat.

Deep Sea-crets is a bright turquoise creme with strong peachy-pink shimmer that shifts to yellow. This shade has the same great formula as I Pink You Blue Me Off. I used two coats plus topcoat and found that to be plenty of coverage for me. This one also dries a bit satin-y without topcoat.

Endless Shrimp is the third and final creme based shimmer from Tonic's Spring 2017 Collection. It's described as a soft coral creme with pale green shimmer. It has the exact same formula as the previous two shimmers, satin finish and all. I normally don't go for this particular shade of coral, but I ended up really liking how it looked!

Aurora Sunrise is an orchid-leaning pink jelly with strong turquoise to purple shifting shimmer and ultra holo microglitters. It has a nice formula that was opaque for me in 3 coats (but depending on your nail length and how thick of coats you apply, you may be good with two). Jellies sometimes give me trouble, so I was pleasantly surprised with how easy this one was to to work with.

Titanium Orchid is the first of two multichromes that were released as part of this collection. It's a pale metallic multichrome that shifts from cool lavender to peach to gold with a scattered holo finish. Titanium Orchid is one of the members of Tonic's infamous "Lumichrome" family. I looooove this polish! It's surprisingly unique to my collection and it's just absolutely stunning. I had full coverage in 3 thin coats with this shade and found the formula to be very easy to work with.

Foxfire, the other multichrome, shifts from metallic rose-gold to yellow-gold with a scattered holographic shimmer. This polish, along with Titanium Orchid, has this amazing ethereal glow in any kind of light setting. I could stare at these kinds of shades for hours. Foxfire has the same formula as Titanium Orchid as well. I used 3 thin coats plus topcoat for my photos.
